Hear from our system chief medical officer, Dr. Groover.
Like many health systems across the country, in recent years we have experienced sharp increases in drug, supply and other costs due to external factors beyond our control. We also have experienced more delays and challenges when seeking authorization and filing claims for our patients’ care in recent years.
We rely on fair contracts to ensure we are reimbursed appropriately, accurately, and promptly for the care we provide. Currently, we are working with Florida Blue on fair, market-based contract terms so that we can continue to serve the health care needs of our community... not just today, but for decades to come.
Hear from our system chief medical officer, Dr. Groover.
How could this renegotiation affect Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plan members?
All patients with commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Exchange health insurance coverage from any BCBS plan, including Florida Blue (FB) plans, will be affected if a new contract is not finalized by September 30, 2024.
In that event, Baptist Health will be considered “non-participating” in the FB network and that will mean any elective (non-emergency) care delivered on or after October 1, 2024, will be available to BCBS and FB members on a self-pay basis unless they have been approved for Continuity of Care coverage (see below)
