Steve Williams, M.Div., BCC, joined Baptist Health in 1994. He serves as Senior Chaplain BMCJ, working in Intensive Care settings and coordinating the clinical assignments, staff support and Pastoral Care work on the BMCJ campus. Previously, Williams served as a Church Planter and founding Pastor of Grays Hill Baptist Church in Beaufort, SC.
Chaplain Williams holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Furman University and a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. He completed a Chaplain Residency program at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL in 1985-1986, serving as Chaplain Resident for Wolfson Children’s Hospital. He then served as Pastor and Church Planter in South Carolina for 7 ½ years. He returned to Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and completed a Second Year Advanced Chaplain Residency with Oncology Specialty in 1994-1995 and continued his employment at BMCJ to the present time
Williams is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains, and a Clinical Member of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. He has served as Clinical Member Representative and as a member of the Representation and Nominations Committee for the Southeast Region Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. He has served on Board Certification committees for chaplains seeking Certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains. He was ordained in 1983 by The Baptist Church of Beaufort in South Carolina and he is endorsed to hospital chaplaincy ministry by the Southern Baptist Convention. Steve and his wife Jane married in 1988 and have two daughters
