Steve Williams, M.Div, BCC
Steve Williams joined Baptist Health in 1994. He serves as the lead chaplain at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville (BMCJ), where he oversees spiritual care for the downtown campus. His clinical assignments include the Med/Surgical ICU and its step-down unit. He is involved with various committees, including the Institutional Review Board, the BMCJ Ethics Committee, and the Baptist Health Critical Care Committee. Additionally, he participates in the Clinical Pastoral Education Program (CPE) by partaking in applicant interviews, presenting didactics, and orienting new students.
Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Furman University and his Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention and specifically endorsed as a chaplain to Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville (BMCJ). Steve received all of his CPE training at Baptist Health, including a second, advanced residency specializing in oncology. He is Board Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains and holds Clinical Membership with the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE).
Steve participates in the Tipping the Scale Mentoring Program at BMCJ, where he mentors teenagers, helping train them in communication/presentation, general life skills education, and job readiness. Additionally, he has served for over 15 years with the North East Florida Fetal/Infant Mortality Review Committee, reviewing cases monthly and seeking strategies to reduce Fetal and Infant Mortality in the five counties of North East Florida.
