Depression Treatments

Brain Stimulation Therapies
Brain stimulation services like TMS and modern-day ECT can be effective when other treatments haven't worked well.

  • Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Baptist Behavioral Health offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as a treatment option for people with depression. TMS uses a targeted magnetic pulse, similar to what is used in an MRI machine, to alter the patterns of your brain to decrease the symptoms of depression.

  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a safe and effective treatment that can quickly improve the quality of life in people with severe behavioral health conditions. ECT can help those with severe depression and some other serious mood disorders, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, when other treatments like antidepressants and talk therapy have failed.

  • Long-Acting Injectables (LAI)

Having trouble following your prescribed medication regimen? We can help. The Long-Acting Injection Clinic at Baptist Behavioral Health has a caring team that can administer and monitor use of long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications.

Long-acting injectables (LAIs) slowly release medicine into the blood, and can last from 2-12 weeks with just one dose to control symptoms of mental illness. LAIs are usually prescribed to treat psychosis (hallucinations or delusions) in individuals with schizophrenia, while some LAIs may be used as mood stabilizers in individuals with bipolar disorder.
