The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from COVID, but if you’ve already had the virus and think you may have antibodies, do you even need to get the vaccine? If you have dealt with the coronavirus firsthand, it would be nice if it offered something — like immunity — in return for the trouble.

While having the virus may give you protection from reinfection, Elizabeth Ransom, MD, FACS, executive vice president and chief physician executive at Baptist Health, said it is unclear how long that might last. In the video below, she answers whether those who have had COVID-19 still need to be vaccinated.
